Personally Interviewed
Our tutors go through a rigorous selection process, having been interviewed to assess their teaching skills and subject knowledge. They have extensive tutoring experience with a track record of success, helping students achieve their academic goals.
Tutoring Experience
During secondary school, I was both a Reading Ambassador and a Maths Ambassador. The Maths Ambassador role allowed me to help the new year 7 students who struggled with Maths to catch up with their peers. We started with the basics and we’d explain different methods on approaching problems until we found one that the students understood; then they’d do a sheet of questions to show whether they’d understood and were able to use the methods in practice.
Tutoring Approach
Firstly, I will have a conversation with the pupil to gauge what topics they struggle with and what they aim to achieve from the tutoring. After that, the sessions will be me using PowerPoints and virtual whiteboards to explain concepts and methods of working to the student – including example questions. Then, I will go through some practise questions with the students, before setting them some independent work to do at the end of the tutorial (asking any questions they need) which they will then finish in their own time for the next tutorial.
