My name is Efe, and I am a graduate of Harvard University, having completed my pre-medical studies. I possess extensive teaching experience, particularly in the subjects of Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics, in addition to guiding students through the process of applying to colleges in the United States. I harbour a genuine passion for science and mathematics, which I endeavour to impart to all of my students, assisting them in realising their academic potential. Tutoring Experience
I have been tutoring high school students for the several years, especially for IB exams. Depending on their needs, I help them with their application essays, classes, and key exams like ACT, SAT, and TOEFL. I have helped students boost their TOEFL scores by up to 15 points and ACT scores by up to 7 points.
I have helped students gain admission to prestigious universities such as Harvard, Yale, and Stanford. I have also helped students get selected for prestigious scholarships such as the Trustee scholarship at Boston University.
Tutoring Approach
For ACT and TOEFL exams, I would first check the capability of the student in terms of grammar, vocabulary, and understanding of the material. I would improve on these gradually through writing and reading assignments. The next major thing I would focus on is to make a game plan on how to attack the test under limited time. Every student has different strong suits. Through multiple warm up tests, I would optimize this process for the student and work on improving that.
For biology, math, chemistry, and Turkish, I adopt an interactive lesson plan. I go over the objectives one by one and understand the level of the student. Then, we work on understanding the material better, together.
