Tutoring Experience

I’ve 3 years’ experience tutoring university admissions for Architecture. This includes tutoring students through the 3-5 month admissions process for Architecture, from personal statements, through various drawing/writing tasks required to complete, to the interview.

I’ve conducted Architecture and Oxbridge mock interviews during my time as a university student through my college. I’ve also assisted a fellow architecture student at Cambridge in acting as mock-interviewer, providing feedback and advice to students.

Using my recent experiences working with the admissions staff and process, I provide in depth tutorials to facilitate successful university applications by using my experiences to conduct a methodical and thorough approach to the application process.

Tutoring Approach

Architecture and Oxbridge Admissions Tuition Approach

My approach for tutoring university applications for Architecture is breaking down the application process into manageable steps, so I can provide as tailored and detailed feedback to each student.

When I first meet students, my primary focus will be on what how sessions can be most beneficial to each student, as most universities each require students to answer to a specific brief. I will start with reviewing students’ portfolio and giving feedback on graphic design and editing content, to answer the brief as best as possible. This will also include tutoring on the assemblage, structure, and story of both the condensed portfolio (which should be tailored to each university and their requirements), and the portfolio to be brought to interview.

Subsequent sessions will cover how to approach drawing/writing tasks set before the interview, with the opportunity for regular check-ins in the lead up to the submission deadline for feedback and advice. Sessions dedicated to preparation for the interview will be split in 2- one half (30 mins) for the mock interview and the second half to discuss how it went and provide feedback.

My ultimate goal is help students understand the process, and what is required as part of it, as fully as they can, so they can perform the best they are able to during the process. This, I believe, will allow each student to maximise their chances at successful applications to the universities of their choice.
