Cambridge University - MSci Natural Sciences

I recently graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Natural Sciences (Physical) with a specialization in Chemistry from the University of Cambridge. I am excited to continue my academic journey by pursuing a Master of Science in the same field at Cambridge next year. Additionally, during my undergraduate studies, I served as the President of the Junior Common Room (JCR) at Clare College, University of Cambridge. I gained distinctive insights into the admissions process and collaborated closely with my college, contributing significantly to the college community.

Personally Interviewed

Our tutors go through a rigorous selection process, having been interviewed to assess their teaching skills and subject knowledge. They have extensive tutoring experience with a track record of success, helping students achieve their academic goals.

Tutoring Experience

I have been a self-employed tutor since 2017, tutoring NSAA, GCSE and A-Level Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Physics. I organize and plan sessions myself, including resources, invoices and content.

Listen to the student’s feedback to improve my sessions and tailor them to their needs, set goals at the start of tuition and ensure progress is made as sessions continue.

I have successfully tutored students to achieve A and A* grades.

I also have first-hand experience of the Cambridge NSAA and Cambridge application process. Have done some work with a previous company too which specializes in helping students prepare for Oxbridge interviews and admissions assessments.

Tutoring Approach

University Interviews Tuition Approach

These will mostly take the form of mock interviews, putting the student on the spot and probing their knowledge. I think it’s best to simulate the situation of the interview as much as possible, so that students are as prepared as possible. I then go through where the student did well, and where I think they need to improve; next time, the questions will be geared to work on the areas necessary to see improvement in style and quality of answer.

NSAA/PAT (Admissions Tests) Tuition Approach

These are a mixture of problem-based sessions, where I will work through tough examples with the students and teach them the techniques needed to complete the assessments accurately and on time, and teaching sessions, where I will talk students through a new topic, or refresh an old one if necessary. There is usually homework to complete between sessions to test the student’s understanding of the content covered. The more effort the student puts into this, the more likely they are to be successful.

A-Level Tuition Approach

Geared towards the student’s needs. This could be extension work – testing the knowledge they’ve learned at school and ensuring they can apply in to new and unfamiliar contexts – or revisiting topics that they’d like explaining in a different way or more detail. Again, there will likely be homework between sessions.
