Tutoring Experience
My professional experience in admissions and schools consulting means that I have mentored students covering a wide range of subjects including Medicine, Sciences, Engineering and Geography.
In addition to university application mentoring and tutoring, I have tutored a number of students over the past 5 years to GCSE and A Level. The particular focus was on History, Latin, Classical Civilisation and Italian.
I currently work full time in a top London Sixth Form as an Academic Coach in History.
Tutoring Approach
Latin - It is important to not only understand the language and the literature, but the wider context within which they sit. Working on translations through practical criticisms, and looking at ways of tackling essay questions.
Classical Civilisation - Working on sources and source material. A focus on an analysis of important contextual events within the widern. Essay planning and essay writing technique, especially under timed conditions.
History - Working on sources and source material. A focus on an analysis of important factors that led to major historical events. Essay planning and essay writing technique, especially under timed conditions.
HAT - A focus on analysing sources and drawing out arguments for an essay under timed conditions
Cambridge Humanities Test - A focus on analysing sources and drawing out arguments for an essay under timed conditions
